In Capoeira, the 'rope' ('corda') that is worn around the waist represents one's level and responsibilities as a capoeirista. We get the rope during the 'Batizado' or baptism, which is held annually in the fall. It's a great festival that brings together the Masters and Teachers from several countries. After a week of workshops and capoeira circles, our guests play with each student and tie their new belts on during a spectacular show to which relatives and friends are invited.
